The film "What Women Want" was a success, grossing just under $375 million on a budget of $70 million. Mel Gibson was nominated for a golden globe, but lost out to George Clooney in O Brother, Where Art Thou.

The Silver Slugger was the first of Gottlieb's "street level" games, pinball tables with no ramps and a lower price for operators. The series did not sell well, and after 1991 Gottlieb returned to more elaborate designs.
